mastix Definition

A resinous substance obtained from a small tree (Commiphora molmol or Commiphora mastics) growing in the limestone regions of southern Europe, especially around the Aegean Sea, and used in perfumery, incense, and as an adhesive. It is also sometimes called myrrh or mastic.
