A division of flowering plants, comprising the three genera Gnetum, Welwitschia, and Ephedra, characterized by non-porous xylem and vascular tissues that are typically gymnosperm-like but are not seed plants in the strict sense. Gnetopsida is considered to be intermediate between the gymnosperms and the angiosperms.
